Hereditary hair loss causes hair thinning or hair loss in over 90% of cases. This condition reduces the amount of time that hair actively spends growing before it falls out. The hair that replaces the fallen strands is finer and shorter, until eventually the follicle shuts down entirely. The texture of the remaining hair may start to change, from full and thick to lifeless and dull, with less colour pigment. Women start experiencing hair thinning and shedding predominantly on the top of the head and along the part. However, women probably won’t see the textbook bald crown like men – it’s more likely that they’ll experience diffuse thinning causing less voluminous hair over time. It is important to know that this condition can strike women even in their twenties and thirties who notice an increase in shedding and a decrease in overall hair volume.

It may surprise you, but hair thinning or hair loss can start as early as age 20. That said, it’s more common for women in their 30s or 40s, with it often peaking around menopause.

Women’s REGAINE^® 5% Minoxidil Foam is a once daily hair re-growth treatment indicated and labeled specifically for women. In contrast, Men’s REGAINE^® Foam is a twice-daily hair re-growth treatment indicated and labeled specifically for men.  As always, we recommend following the labeled dosage when using any REGAINE^® Minoxidil product.

REGAINE^® product should not be used if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Please consult with your healthcare professional.

Since normal hair usually grows only 1.27 cm to 2.54 cm per month, hair regrowth with Women’s REGAINE^® products also takes time.

Results with once-daily use of Women’s REGAINE^® Foam may be seen as early as 3 months, and for some women, it may take at least 6 months for results to be seen. Clinical studies show that with once daily use of Women’s REGAINE^® 5% Minoxidil Foam for 6 months , 8 out of 10 women regrew hair*.

You may need to use Women’s REGAINE^® Regular Strength Solution 2 times a day for at least 4 months before you see results.

It takes time to regrow hair. Your results and success may depend on proper application and dosage; remember to apply Women’s REGAINE^® Foam once-a-day or Women’s REGAINE^® Regular Strength Solution twice-a-day, every day, directly to the scalp.

Women's REGAINE^® products stimulate hair follicles to shift from the resting phase to the growth phase. As part of this process, it is not uncommon to see a temporary increase in shedding during the first 2 weeks using Women's REGAINE^® products. This occurs in some people when the hair follicles shift into the growth phase and older hairs are shed to make way for new actively growing hairs.  It is a bit like losing baby teeth to make room for adult teeth. This increase in shedding is only temporary and should subside within a couple of weeks with continued treatment. You should not panic if a temporary increase in hair shedding is noticed.  Please note, however, if increased shedding continues for longer than two weeks, you should consult your doctor to rule out other possible medical problems.

Hereditary hair loss is a lifelong condition so continued use of REGAINE^® products is necessary to increase and keep your hair regrowth, or you’ll revert back to your previous state as hair loss will begin again. There is no duration restriction for use of REGAINE^® products.

If you miss 1 or 2 doses of Women’s REGAINE^® product, just continue with your next regular dose. We do not recommend that you try to make up for missed doses. One or 2 days of not using Women’s REGAINE^® product will not affect your long-term hair regrowth as long as you resume your regular routine.

Unlike cosmetic thickeners which just coat hair and temporarily mask the issue, Women’s REGAINE^® helps to regrow thicker, fuller hair.  You can follow your normal hair care routine when using Women's REGAINE^® products. Just be sure to apply your Women's REGAINE^® product first and wait for it to dry before applying your styling products.

Yes.  It's fine to blow-dry your hair, however, we recommend using your dryer at a lower setting.  Be careful not to over blow-dry.

Yes.  Women’s REGAINE^® products can be used on both permed and colour-treated hair. We have no evidence that colouring, perming, or using relaxers on your hair change the effect of Women’s REGAINE® products.  However, because the use of permanent wave and hair colour can cause scalp irritation on certain people, we recommend the following precautions:

1. To avoid possible scalp irritation, you should make sure all of the Women’s REGAINE^® product has been washed off the hair and scalp before using colour or perm chemicals.
2. For best results, do not apply Women’s REGAINE^® product on the same day that you use a chemical treatment on your hair.
3. Do not use Women’s REGAINE^® product for 24 hours after using any chemicals to make sure your scalp has not been irritated by the perm or colour treatment.  If no irritation occurs, continue use of Women’s REGAINE^® product as usual.
4. Simply restart your normal Women’s REGAINE^® product routine.  There is no need to use more Women’s REGAINE^® product to make up for missed applications. 

Missing one day of Women’s REGAINE^® products will not affect your hair regrowth results.
